BRITAIN'S GOT TALENT...challenges

Following on from a recent TalentSocial discussion about ‘Who is blogging out there on UK HR issues?’ I’m interested to dig a little deeper and uncover some of the top talent challenges this side of the pond, rather than just who’s talking about them.
It’s very true; the majority of literature, studies, blogs etc currently originate in the US. However, as we’ve seen from Rosie & Jackie’s newly compiled blog listings, this trend is changing. Things will continue to progress in this fashion as awareness, knowledge and thought leadership slowly but surely diffuse into every corner of UK business landscape.

I set about correlating a number of recently published studies selected on the basis of reputation and/or sheer number of survey respondents. My sample included a couple of heavyweight global workforce studies by PricewaterhouseCoopers and IBM. I also looked at research by Josh Bersin of Bersin Associates, arguably the foremost global authority in the talent arena. Lastly I used a micro study undertaken by another renowned thought leader, regular contributor to the Harvard Business Review , and author of one of my favourite blogs: Tammy Erickson.

Even with the diversity of perspectives in my sample, today’s top talent challenges seemed to be remarkably consistent amongst all studies. Take a look at my top ten below - I’d be interested to hear how you feel this compares with current challenges in the UK?
