Zappos have created a great example of employee engagement through the use of
Twitter.
They have basically
created a page where Zappos employees can communicate via Tweets. On top of this any Tweets (Twitter messages) who mention Zappos in Twitter also get 'fed' through to their page.
This is a very powerful and simple tool:
* Employees can communicate to each other
* Zappos can immediately see positive or negative comments about them
* Anyone can directly communicate with Zappos. Maybe you've found a bug. Have an idea for them to improve. Want to congratulate or complain about them.
* Top management is active on Twitter which makes it very easy to start a conversation with people the people that can make the difference.
Zappos operate a very open culture where many other businesses would be scared to adopt some of their successes.
