I came across
Shine Week recently which is national festival showcasing talent in young people.
It's got me thinking a bit about the approach to encouraging talent and perhaps it's all the wrong way round. So in this case they are having a festival to showcase and then celebrate talent. Wouldn't it make sense to allow people to showcase their talent anytime, anywhere and not be specifically tied to the Shine Week festival?
I'm not saying Shine is a bad thing, am just wondering about the longevity. I am guessing there will be a big push for the the actual 'Shine week' in a few weeks time and then it may go quiet until next year when I'm assuming there will be another Shine Week. There's something in me saying there should be a network with the same idea but with the focus on talent rather than the week/festival - allowing teachers and students to post information anytime and anywhere.
Of course there could be annual awards or celebrations, but the fact that people will be focusing on things (hopefully) they enjoy will give them the ultimate satisfaction as 'human beings'.
