Pownce shutting down - ok, not Talent related, but...

For those that don't know Pownce is was similar to Twitter, but instead of just sending 140 characters of updates, you could send other stuff like files between a group of friends. I never got into it, but am sure some did.

However, doesn't it get you thinking?

People are so quick and ready to jump on to the newest thing. The greatest current idea. Yet, in a flash (well 2 weeks) they can take it all away from you. If it's something that you've put a lot of time and effort into it could be a real blow.

At least Pownce gave notice. A while back Stikipad just disappeared off the face of the earth web.

It just goes to show that whilst some startups look promising and can have some great ideas, their ethos and durability are unreliable. Bear this in mind when it's your information that could be on the line.
