Setting and achieving goals - some things to think about

Simple actions can lead to positive results, turning your life or business around. Goal setting is one of these actions. The idea is powerfully simple, yet implement the principles and you’ll have a better chance of succeeding.

The idea behind goal setting is simple, however the putting into action likely won’t be a ride in the park. Can we expect to achieve a better life, income and learning experiences if it is handed to us on a plate? It's the journey to the end of the goal that counts.

I've been doing some thinking/reading about goals recently and think it's worth writing down some notes. This is the first in a series.

Some things to think about when setting goals:

* Face the future with anticipation. Get excited. Imagine life after you have achieved your dreams.
* Living should not just be about existence. Do something worthwhile. Make sure people will remember you.
* Don’t just make a living. Design your life.
* Make sure you have the (right) reasons to want to succeed. Why do you get up every day? What keeps you going? What will make you run?
* What inspires you? What turns you off?
* Don’t worry about the answers now. The solutions will come, but you need the reasons to carry on fighting.
* Make a list of your goals and write them down!

Rosie, I love the Design your Life bullet! - you may wish to have a read through http://goalmapping.com sometime. Setting goals has often been a left-brained activity, you know the thing - write a task or action list, tick them off one by one. Do the ones you like and find the one's you aren't so keen on are still on the list 6 months later! Goal Mapping from LIFT International brings together accelerated learning techniques for whole brain activation through a combination of both left and right brained goal setting - committing your goals to both your conscious and your sub-conscious mind. I know a great person qualified to train the technique too ;-)
